Preparations for Building the Temple
1. And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.
1. Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya ses serviteurs vers Salomon, car il apprit qu`on l`avait oint pour roi à la place de son père, et il avait toujours aimé David.

2. And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

2. Ary Solomona naniraka tany amin' i Hirama hanao hoe:
3. Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
3. Tu sais que David, mon père, n`a pas pu bâtir une maison à l`Éternel, son Dieu, à cause des guerres dont ses ennemis l`ont enveloppé jusqu`à ce que l`Éternel les eût mis sous la plante de ses pieds.
3. Fantatrao fa Davida raiko tsy nahavita trano ho an' ny anaran' i Jehovah Andriamaniny noho ny ady nanodidina azy, ambara-panaon' i Jehovah ireo ho eo ambanin' ny faladiany.
4. But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.
4. "Maintenant l`Éternel, mon Dieu, m`a donné du repos de toutes parts; plus d`adversaires, plus de calamités!"
4. Fa ankehitriny Jehovah Andriamanitro efa nanome ahy fitsaharana amin' ny manodidina, ka tsy misy fahavalo, na loza manjo intsony.
5. And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
5. Voici, j`ai l`intention de bâtir une maison au nom de l`Éternel, mon Dieu, comme l`Éternel l`a déclaré à David, mon père, en disant: Ton fils que je mettrai à ta place sur ton trône, ce sera lui qui bâtira une maison à mon nom.
5. Ary, indro, mikasa hanao trano ho an' ny anaran' i Jehovah Andriamanitro aho, araka ilay nolazain' i Jehovah tamin' i Davida raiko hoe: Ny zanakao izay hapetrako eo amin' ny sezafiandriananao handimby anao, izy no hanao trano ho an' ny anarako.
6. Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.
6. "Ordonne maintenant que l`on coupe pour moi des cèdres du Liban. Mes serviteurs seront avec les tiens, et je te paierai le salaire de tes serviteurs tel que tu l`auras fixé; car tu sais qu`il n`y a personne parmi nous qui s`entende à couper les bois comme les Sidoniens."
6. "Koa dia mba asaovy misy mikapa hazo sedera any Libanona ho ahy; ary ny mpanompoko hiaraka amin' ny mpanomponao, ka ny karaman' ny mpanomponao dia homeko anao araka izay rehetra hotononinao, fa fantatrao fa tsy mba misy olona aty aminay mahay mikapa hazo tahaka ny Sidoniana."
7. And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
7. Lorsqu`il entendit les paroles de Salomon, Hiram eut une grande joie, et il dit: Béni soit aujourd`hui l`Éternel, qui a donné à David un fils sage pour chef de ce grand peuple!
7. Ary izao no niseho, rehefa ren' i Hirama ny tenin' i Solomona, dia faly indrindra izy ka nanao hoe: Isaorana anie Jehovah anio, Izay nanome zanakalahy hendry ho an' i Davida hanapaka izao olona betsaka izao.
8. And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.
8. Et Hiram fit répondre à Salomon: J`ai entendu ce que tu m`as envoyé dire. Je ferai tout ce qui te plaira au sujet des bois de cèdre et des bois de cyprès.
8. "Ary Hirama naniraka tany amin' i Solomona hanao hoe: Efa reko ny nanirahanao taty amiko; koa izaho dia hanao izay rehetra irinao ny amin' ny hazo sedera sy ny hazo kypreso."
9. My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
9. "Mes serviteurs les descendront du Liban à la mer, et je les expédierai par mer en radeaux jusqu`au lieu que tu m`indiqueras; là, je les ferai délier, et tu les prendras. Ce que je désire en retour, c`est que tu fournisses des vivres à ma maison."
9. Ny mpanompoko hitondra azy midina avy any Libanona ho any amin' ny ranomasina, ary hampandehaniko mitsinkafona eny ambony ranomasina ho any amin' ny toerana izay hotondroinao, ary dia hoborahiko ao izany, ka ianao no haka azy, ary dia ianao no hanao izay iriko amin' ny fanomezan-kanina ho an' ny ankohonako.
10. So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.
10. Hiram donna à Salomon des bois de cèdre et des bois de cyprès autant qu`il en voulut.
10. Ary Hirama dia nanome hazo sedera sy hazo kypreso ho an' i Solomona araka izay rehetra niriny.
11. And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
11. "Et Salomon donna à Hiram vingt mille cors de froment pour l`entretien de sa maison et vingt cors d`huile d`olives concassées; c`est ce que Salomon donna chaque année à Hiram."
11. "Ary Solomona kosa nanome an' i Hirama vary tritika roa alina famarana ho sakafon' ny ankohonany, ary diloilo madio roapolo famarana; izany no nomen' i Solomona an' i Hirama isan-taona isan-taona."
12. And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
12. L`Éternel donna de la sagesse à Salomon, comme il le lui avait promis. Et il y eut paix entre Hiram et Salomon, et ils firent alliance ensemble.
12. "Ary Jehovah nanome fahendrena an' i Solomona araka izay nampanantenainy taminy; ary nihavana Hirama sy Solomona, ka nanao fanekena izy roa lahy."
13. And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
13. "Le roi Salomon leva sur tout Israël des hommes de corvée; ils étaient au nombre de trente mille."
13. Ary Solomona mpanjaka naka olona tamin' ny Isiraely rehetra hanao fanompoana ka lehilahy telo alina no nalainy.
14. And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.
14. "Il les envoya au Liban, dix mille par mois alternativement; ils étaient un mois au Liban, et deux mois chez eux. Adoniram était préposé sur les hommes de corvée."
14. "Ary nirahiny nankany Libanona izy ireny dia iray alina no indray nilatsaka isam-bolana; iray volana izy no tany Libanona, ary roa volana kosa tany an-tranony; ary Adonirama no nifehy ny olona nalaina hanao fanompoana."
15. And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;
15. Salomon avait encore soixante-dix mille hommes qui portaient les fardeaux et quatre-vingt mille qui taillaient les pierres dans la montagne,
15. Ary Solomona nanana mpitondra entana fito alina sy mpikapa hazo valo alina tany an-tendrombohitra.
16. Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
16. sans compter les chefs, au nombre de trois mille trois cents, préposés par Salomon sur les travaux et chargés de surveiller les ouvriers.
16. Afa-tsy ireo lehiben' ny manamboninahitr' i Solomona, izay nitandrina ny raharaha, dia telonjato amby telo arivo lahy izay nifehy ny olona nanao ny asa.
17. And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
17. Le roi ordonna d`extraire de grandes et magnifiques pierres de taille pour les fondements de la maison.
17. Ary ny mpanjaka dia nandidy ka nitondra vato vaventy ireo, vato lafo vidy sy vato voapaika hatao fanorenan' ny trano.
18. And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
18. Les ouvriers de Salomon, ceux de Hiram, et les Guibliens, les taillèrent, et ils préparèrent les bois et les pierres pour bâtir la maison.
18. "Ary ny mpiasan' i Solomona sy ny mpiasan' i Hirama namboatra izany mbamin' ny tambato; dia nanomana ny hazo sy ny vato hanorenana ny trano ireo."
